CMMS, which is the abbreviation of the computerized maintenance management system, is an useful software for managing and maintaining your company or organization's database. Its advantage is visualization, that is to say, our maintenance staff could find out devices which are out of work via the graph function. And we could get an analysis report about cost benefit on maintenance operations. Besides that, we could use CMMS software to maintain devices regularly. Meanwhile, it could assign available personnel to carry out the task of maintenance and get more details including downtime, reason and so on. Now, I will talk about how to perform CMMS.
The first step: Define your targets and task on CMMS. They must be clear and concise which is good for you to implement your mission. If you do not know clearly about them, it could waste lots of time on the system.
The second step: Make sure the CMMS could perform your tasks and targets completely. Certainly, it could allow you to enlarge tasks flexibly if you want.
The third step: A specific schedule is necessary. This implementation schedule helps you to save lots of time and control the process of task. While, your colleagues and superiors could keep abreast of your progress throughout the implementation.
The forth step: Add the mode of your human maintenance system into the new auto system. Then, you could configure them to implement your preventive maintenance tasks. Codes are good way to accomplish them which should be meaningful and easy.
The fifth step: Add the device or equipment into your CMMS software. In this step, you just need to add necessary device or equipment into the system which is really important. If you add some devices you do not want to maintain, it could decrease the ability of CMMS maintenance.
The sixth step: Add your preventive maintenance tasks for your devices or equipments. In the fifth step, we have added necessary devices into system. At this time, we need to configure tasks for different equipments.
The seventh step: Enter inventory and purchasing data into the CMMS software. This data can be entered as the software is being used.
The eighth step: Train your employees how to use the CMMS. These employees include your department, maintenance workers and managers
The last step: Start using your CMMS on a daily basis.
