Like all internet security programs ZoneAlarm can be very difficult to remove. This is because parts of the software get installed onto your system registry. The normal windows Add/Remove Programs area isn't able to delete the files and folders from this area. This means you have to go in yourself and manually remove them. This can be very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. If you delete the wrong file you could end up corrupting other software on your system. I would recommend that you proceed with caution.
Step one.
1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
2. Click on the Task Manager.
3. Click on the Processes tab.
4. Highlight ZoneAlarm and press End Process.
Step two.
1. Press Start and click on the Control Panel.
2. Double click either the Add/Remove Programs area or Uninstall A Program.
3. Once the list has populated select the Security app for ZoneAlarm.
4. Click on the Uninstall button.
5. Perform actions 3-4 again with any other icons associated with ZoneAlarm.
Step three.
1. Press the Start button and click Run.
2. Type "regedit" into the search box.
3. Double click the folder named hkey_local_machine
4. Double click the Software folder, once inside delete the ZoneAlarm folder.
5. Navigate to hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\current version\run and delete the files that are labelled;
cfgmain Reg None
ScanDialogState Reg_SZ
ScanSettingsDialogState Reg_SZ
UnprotectedDialogDialogState Reg_SZ
UpdateDialogDialogState Reg_SZ
6. Close down the windows and navigate to c:windows/system32
7. Delete the files that start with vsdatant and vsdata
8. Navigate to c:program files and delete the folder named zonelabs.
9. Navigate to c:windows/system32 and delete the internet logs folder.
10. Restart your computer.
